Peer-to-peer software bellwether Groove Networks Inc. has brought in a couple of seasoned IT industry executives to bolster the business side of its operations.

The Beverly, Mass., company today announced that Chuck Teubner is joining the company as president and chief operating officer. He will manage the day-to-day operations of the 240-person company and report to CEO and Chairman Ray Ozzie, who founded the company.

Teubner, 55, most recently was chief operating officer at Usinternetworking, where he performed much the same duties as he will at Groove. During a 30-year career, Teubner also held a top position at database maker Sybase Inc. and worked at the U.S. Department of Defense.

Groove, which offers P2P- and server-based collaboration software, also today named 20-year IT industry veteran Kelly Collins its vice president of government systems. She will be responsible for growing Grooves nascent government sales channel. Collins was previously a sales executive at Bowstreet Inc.
