Mapics Inc., which provides collaborative enterprise applications for midmarket manufacturers, on Monday announced the availability of its new Mapics ERP module for IBMs iSeries platform.

The release provides a suite of Java-based enterprise resources planning applications that enables manufacturers to share information in real time with remote and mobile users.

The specific applications provide functionality in supply chain management, customer relationship management, manufacturing execution, product lifecycle management, financial and business analytics, maintenance and calibration management, and collaboration process management.

By enabling customers to personalize and customize data to their requirements in an environment optimized for IBMs iSeries servers, Mapics ERP iSeries applications enable those manufacturers that are IBM shops to better customize core business processes, according to officials at Mapics, of Alpharetta, Ga.

Because much of the ERP iSeries queries will be made from mobile and remote devices – as when sales reps check inventory levels before placing a customer order on their personal digital assistants, for example – Mapics has upgraded its security features for this release. For instance, the new software automatically checks a users security profile to be sure they have the proper authorization, allowing only appropriate information to be viewed, according to officials.

The new ERP for iSeries also builds on the companys Mapics eZ-Link business messaging and integration application announced earlier this year.

With that system, data can be more easily extracted and updated in the data model for easier integration with disparate systems. The integration allows for better human-to-human and system-to-system collaboration and transactions, officials said.
