SAP AG announced Monday that it has hired former Siebel Systems Inc. executive Patrick Bakey to head up sales operations for its North American CRM business unit.
Bakey, former vice president of federal sales at Siebel, was named senior vice president of SAP America Inc.s North American CRM business unit. Hell be responsible for increasing revenues of SAP CRM among both new and existing SAP customers, company officials said.
Bakey will report to John Nugent, SAP Americas executive vice president of sales.
AMR Research Inc. projected last month that SAP would overtake Siebel in CRM market share by the end of the year.
SAP has reported $217.7 million in sales revenue from its MySAP CRM application suite in the first half of this year, compared with $236.7 million in software license revenue for Siebel in the same period.
SAPs total U.S. software revenues were up 63 percent in the second quarter over the same period a year ago, according to company officials.
