A new email hoax is targeting customers of Wells Fargo, implying that the customers account has been hacked.
The email, which is titled “Wells Fargo New Business Account Application” states that the users “application” has been rejected. If a user opens the attachment, however, a Trojan is placed onto the users system that will monitor and record personal information, such as passwords.
A spokeswoman for Wells Fargo said that the email hoax had surfaced recently. The bank has posted notices on its web page and in emailed messages to its customers reminding them that the bank does not solicit personal information.
