BALTIMORE—IBM is scheduled to preview new mainframe management software to help enterprise customers manage and secure transactions in service-oriented architectures at the Share User Event here on Aug. 15.

In a keynote presentation at the user conference of IT professionals who use IBM technology and services, Al Zollar, general manager of IBMs Tivoli software division, is scheduled to preview the new software, which is targeted at helping customers move to SOAs, IBM officials said. In particular, the new software is designed to better enable enterprises to leverage their IBM System z mainframes as SOA hubs, officials said.

The new software is based in part on technology IBM acquired when the company bought Candle and Cyanea Systems in 2004.

Zollar is expected to highlight several new products that are scheduled to be available by the end of this year, IBM officials said.

The new products include Tivoli Federated Identity Manager for z/OS, which introduces federated identity management to mainframe systems, IBM officials said.

The Tivoli Composite Application Manager assists users in diagnosing IT problems on an autonomic basis—automatically monitoring, analyzing and resolving problems, IBM officials said.

A third product, the Tivoli Workload Scheduler, enables batch workloads to run across SOA-enabled and grid computing environments. And the Tivoli Omegamon XE offering, based on Candle technology, is a diagnostics tool that will diagnose IT problems across applications, middleware and non-SOA-enabled systems, company officials said.
