SEOUL, South Korea — The Supreme Court of Korea last week established an Internet retrieval system for certified copies of real estate documents built on BEA Systems Inc.s WebLogic Server.
The system, which will allow Internet access to more than 300,000 documents daily, is the fruit of more than 10 years of work by private attorneys and the Supreme Court. The effort to computerize registration of real estate records nationwide is among the largest government IT projects in history, sources said.
The Supreme Court said it chose BEAs WebLogic for its stable interoperation with the existing legacy systems. In trials for more than a year and a half, the new system enables citizens looking to purchase real estate to retrieve certified copies of transactions from the registry, and confirm the proceeding state of the registration application.
Prior to the introduction of the system, citizens had to visit related public offices.
