Samsung Enterprises has implemented BEA WebLogic server for an enterprise portal project.

The BEA Portal system integrates the various groupware functionalities that Samsung requires, forming a single access point for document processing, e-mail, discussion boards and an online management system.

One of the key requirements for the project was that the software must be reliable and able to handle peak loads in the morning, when nearly 120,000 Samsung Enterprises employees access the system. According to Samsung Enterprises the choice was confirmed after the BEA WebLogic system maintained robust performance during a benchmark test of over 100,000 simultaneous connections.

Samsung Enterprises expects internal company communications to become more integrated and a community spirit to be fostered by the newly installed system. Furthermore Samsung hopes the enterprise portal will lead to improved integration of its business systems and thereby reduce costs.
