Manugistics Group Inc. is adding new functionalities its Pricing and Revenue Optimization suite through an alliance with Vendavo Inc.

Using Vendavos pricing management technology, Manugistics will add new price application and execution capabilities to the PRO suite.

The alliance, announced Tuesday, calls for Manugistics, of Rockville, Md., to resell Vendavos Advantage, a price and deal management software package designed to give pricing and sales teams better control over pricing policies and deal negotiation.

The Vendavo Advantage suite will enable PRO customers to bring optimized prices to the front line of deal making. The suite is designed to help companies drive higher earnings through set pricing policies and results tracking, according to officials from Manugistics and Vendavo, of Palo Alto., Calif.

The alliance plays nicely into Manugistics Enterprise Profit Optimization strategy and software. In addition to supply chain management and supplier relationship management products, Manugistics offers price management software that extends across the price lifecycle of a product – from price setting, price optimization and price policy management to deal execution, analytics and reporting.

Manugistics PRO applications take into account specific market conditions and customer buying behaviors to create optimized prices across the various environments of price list development, bid development and promotional discounting.

The combined solutions will incorporate real-time, transaction-specific on- and off-invoice price adjustments like rebates, charge-backs, payment terms, freight charges and volume incentives.

Likewise, the offerings will have an upgraded user interface that expands access to pricing information.

Manugistics will initially target the combined software at manufacturers and distributors in the energy, communications and high tech, industrial products and transportation industries.
