Id like to welcome eWEEK readers to a new and vastly upgraded version of our online IT Careers Center. (Click here or on the IT Careers Center button in the list on the left.)
Why a new IT Careers Center? As most eWEEK readers know from sometimes painful first-hand experience, managing your career in IT can itself be a full-time job these days. It involves keeping up to date on emerging technologies and skill sets, training for new skills and certifications, networking, and tracking where the new opportunities are and how much they pay. These are all critical for every IT professional, particularly as the current economic slowdown actually reduces the number of IT positions in the United States.
To help strapped IT pros keep up with all that, weve enhanced the IT Careers Center on eweek.com, turning it into a one-stop shop of career information, tools and advice that you can use to build and retain your edge. Weve partnered with the worlds No. 1 online IT job site, Monster.com, to add a searchable job board to the IT Careers Center. Here you can search for a job, post your résumé or apply for a job. Employers, too, can post IT jobs. Weve also added tools that will help you create a résumé and alert you when a job that fits you is posted in our database.
But thats not all thats new on the IT Careers Center. Training and certification have become critical to helping IT pros maximize their options, so weve added a searchable database of training courses and certification opportunities. And weve posted insightful articles from Monster with useful tips IT pros can use to fine-tune their résumés, improve their networking skills and supercharge their careers in a multitude of ways. (You can access the job board and these other new features from our new Career Toolbox.)
Were adding all of this to the world-class articles and features already available on the IT Careers Center: from our Career Coach, where IT pros can ask questions of in-the-trenches IT hiring managers, to timely articles on everything from emerging hot jobs and certifications to controversial topics such as H-1B visas.
Were not done yet. You can expect lots more enhancements in the IT Careers Center in the near future. But we feel that, with the upgrades were rolling out today, the IT Careers Center has become the essential careers portal for all IT professionals.
Check it out. We hope youll agree.
