Atheros Expects Rising Shipments Of 802.11a/g Chips This Year

Atheros Communications Inc. increased shipments of 802.11a/g chipsets in the first quarter of this year, according to president and CEO Craig Barratt. The cost difference between 802.11g and 802.11a/g has narrowed to about 25 percent, Barratt said. The company will also develop 802.11 technology for use in mobile phones and VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) devices.
