British shoppers can now complete their purchases with just a single touch of their mobile devices, thanks to the rollout of a leading payments technology.

Payments provider Braintree has announced the U.K. launch of its OneTouch payments service, which means users no longer need to enter a username and password when they use PayPal as a payment method.

The service is available across Android and iOS, although merchants looking to use the service will need to integrate their systems with Braintree’s v.zero SDK, which was launched in August. The 10-minute process gives merchants access to One Touch, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay and soon Bitcoin.

      Going Global

Having launched in the United States earlier this year, OneTouch will now be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden as part of Braintree’s efforts to serve the 43 markets it currently operates in.

The service has already signed up a range of customers, including Jane.com, ParkWhiz, StubHub, Type Tees by Threadless and YPlan in the United States. In Europe, companies like Cabonline in Sweden, JustPark in the United Kingdom and Polagram in France are planning to integrate the service, as Braintree claims it’s faster and safer for mobile shoppers, and helps to reduce shopping cart abandonment.

“As a global company working to support startups and developers across industries and borders, we’ve seen firsthand that innovation happens around the world,” said Klas Back, Braintree’s general manager, international and payment strategy.

The London-based company, which also counts the likes of Airbnb and Hailo among its customers, was bought by PayPal for $800 million last year and has its services integrated into the platform. It currently processes up to $12 billion (£7.4bn) in payments per year, a third of that via mobile apps, to around 4,000 merchants worldwide.
