Colubris Networks is set to introduce a suite of quality-of-service software for its line of WLAN access devices and controllers.

Building on the recently ratified IEEE 802.11e standard, the Service Aware Wi-Fi QOS software prioritizes network traffic based on its function—data transfers, voice over IP or video surveillance.

The company also is upgrading its network management software. Version 3.1 of the Colubris Network Management System is optimized to centrally manage the wireless LAN based on QOS, officials said.

The software is available to Colubris customers as a free upgrade.
