Creative has taken many of the features that people loved in its Zen Vision:M hard drive MP3 player and put them into its newest flashed-based devices, the Zen V and Zen V Plus. The Zen V plays digital music and photo files, while the Zen V Plus adds video playback and FM capabilities to the mix.

Both devices measure 2.5 by 1.5 by 0.5 inches, making them small enough to tuck into your pants pocket. The 1.5-inch screen on the players can display photos and album art, as well as video (on the Zen V Plus).

The devices come in several color combinations that coincide with specific flash memory sizes for both. There is black or white with orange accents (1GB), black or white with green accents (2GB), and black with blue accents (4GB).

Each player includes a voice recorder, as well as a line-in port for recording tracks directly from an audio device, such as a CD player. A Sync Track setting automatically breaks up tracks recorded from a line-in source. The Zen V and Zen V Plus both support music subscription services such as Yahoo! Music Unlimited, Napster to Go, and Urge. In addition, the two support pay-per-download services such as Soundbuzz and Audible audio books.
