The slim Nokia X2 candy bar phone made its debut in India April 29.
Said to take some inspiration from the X3 and X6, the new X2 features a 2.2-inch QVGA screen (240 by 320 pixels), weighs in at just 3 ounces and measures 4.4 by 1.9 by 0.5 inches.
Music is a focus here, with Windows Media Player, stereo speakers, dedicated music keys, FM radio with a built-in antenna, and support for MP3, MP4, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA formats. There’s also Bluetooth 2.1, for a wireless headset, plus a 3.5-mm headphone jack. In select markets, consumers will also have access to Nokia’s Music Store and Comes with Music service.
Nokia didn’t skimp on the camera here, either, which is a respectable 5 megapixels with a flash and four-times zoom. The company said it is easy to share photos on Flickr or Ovi Share via Bluetooth.
The X2 is compatible with quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks and comes with 48MB of memory, plus a uSD card slot for up to 16GB more.
On the socializing front, there’s access to Facebook from the X2’s home screen, support for Nokia Messaging 2.0, e-mail and instant messaging, and conversational views for SMS (Short Message Service) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service). It also comes with the Opera Mini browser.
The X2,in black-red or silver-blue, will arrive in the second quarter and retail for 85 Euro, or approximately $113.
Candy bar shape not gonna cut it? For those wanting a little more oomph, Nokia introduced the N8 days earlier. The first Nokia phone to run Symbian 3, it boasts a touch screen with multitouch capabilities, a new two- and three-dimensional graphics architecture, a 12-megapixel camera, and a single homescreen app that pulls together live feeds and other information from Facebook and Twitter.
