Research In Motion has teamed with 3Com and Nortel Networks to develop WLAN mobility solutions for the enterprise, announced officials last week.

RIM will combine its BlackBerry wireless product designed for WLAN networks with 3Coms IP PBX and WLAN switch to provide the corporate user with a SIP-based BlackBerry tied to its existing PBX system.

The solution comprises the 3Com VCX Gateway and WLAN Mobility System and the BlackBerry 7270 handheld.

With Nortel, RIM will work to deliver SIP-enabled business communications over WLANs. The duo plans to integrate RIMs BlackBerry enterprise platform and Nortels Multimedia Communications Server 5100.
