The T-Mobile Sidekick LX ’09-the popular consumer phone with the full QWERTY keyboard and distinct flip-up screen-just became a whole lot more enterprise-friendly, according to a short post on a T-Mobile forum. The carrier announced that Sidekick Sync, a new feature-rich application, is now available for download.
According to T-Mobile, Sidekick Sync will support real-time push e-mail, the viewing of attachments, full sync capabilities, and feature full read and respond functionality, as well as the ability to configure sync schedules.
The syncing capabilities will extend beyond e-mail and include contacts from corporate directories, as well Microsoft Exchange calendar events.
A Sidekick data plan is required to download the Sidekick Sync, which is available for $4.99 a month.
According to T-Mobile, the app was developed and built by Remoba, a developer of enterprise and consumer mobile apps, in cooperation with Microsoft, Danger-the maker of the Sidekick-and T-Mobile USA.
T-Mobile has also been busy allowing subscribers to preorder the MyTouch 3G, its newest phone running the Google Android operating system. It will officially launch nationwide Aug. 5.
