Alcatel SA has rolled out a new professional certification aimed at network engineers, network administrators and other IT professionals trained to manage the companys new OmniSwitch family of network switches.

The new designation is called the Alcatel Certified Switch Professional (ACSP).

The company said a CD-based, self-paced training course for the ACSP is available and free until Dec. 31, 2002. The CD training is designed to be completed in six hours. After this year, the CD will be priced at $24.95

In order to receive the ACSP certification, candidates will need to pass an online, self-administered exam. The exam is priced at $75.

The ACSP joins other Alcatel certifications, including the Alcatel Certified Switch Specialist and the Alcatel Certified Switch Expert.
