Our April 23 eWEEKchat will revolve around new-generation network fabrics that utilize the stability and speed of Fibre Channel networking that houses the often ultra-high-speed data transactions controlled by software-defined networks.

This is all about automation and security. The system software has to be intelligent enough to know how and where to route data streams and in the most efficient manner, so that enterprises—they don’t all have to be large, by the way—that utilize high-transactional business applications can be assured that payloads get to their destinations safely and within regulatory constraints.

That’s also where Fibre Channel plays a huge role. Highly secure cabled networks are requisite in many regulated industries—by governments, financial authorities, military regulations or other institutional bodies. The rules are even more specific in localities such as the European Union.

In our eWEEKchat April 23, we will pose questions such as:

–Is your company using Fibre Channel SAN fabric inside the system? What apps are you running?

–What roadblocks has your SDN/Fibre Channel network removed?

–Are you running a private cloud using a Fibre Channel fabric? Hybrid? What advantages are you seeing?

–How are those networks giving you a business advantage?

–Do you see Fibre Channel as having additional security benefits over other networks?

–If you are not using Fibre Channel fabrics of any type now, do you plan to do so in 2014 or 2015?

–What type of network controls are you using?

Hope to connect with you April 23, and use your collaboration network to tell your friends. Let’s have fun with this.
