Network Physics last week became the latest monitoring provider to link networks to business services.

The NP/BizFlow-2000 appliance includes a Business-Network Integration Engine that can track TCP and User Datagram Protocol traffic flows to monitor performance, response time and utilization and link the flows to relevant business groups. The NP/BizFlow-2000 appliance attaches to the mirror or spanning port on a network switch and passively monitors traffic flowing across the network. The 1U (1.75-inch-high) appliance is available now, typically starting at $100,000.
