eWEEK’s reporters, editors and analysts try hard to keep the “e” in eWEEK, which, in case you didn’t know, stands for “enterprise.”

There happens to be a pretty huge audience out there anxious to read about advances in megapixels and new apps for MySpace, but our advertisers don’t see the value in trying to sell VOIP and enterprise-class storage to a 21-year-old trying to read camera phone reviews in her dorm room. So we steer clear.

But this holiday we decided to let loose our staff to do some fun sleuthing in consumer electronics. Our beat reporters turned up gadgets, apps, phones, GPS devices and even a portable device with 1 terabyte of storage for less than $200, all with an eye toward informing a shopper whose day job involves terabytes, not megapixels; network security instead of a social network; and petaflops instead of flip-flops.

The Results:

Laptops

Mobile Devices, Phones and GPS

Web Sites and Apps

Desktop and Mobile Security

Personal and Portable Storage

Whether you do Black Friday or Cyber Monday, happy shopping!
