Sun Microsystems Inc., Accenture LLC and Parametric Technology Corp. have joined to improve cross-company product development.

The trio early this month introduced a combined offering, called CPC (collaborative product commerce), that will allow a manufacturers partners, suppliers, customers and internal production teams to work in concert in all phases of a products life cycle.

This solution leverages Chicago-based Accentures technology implementation experience, PTCs Windchill collaboration portal software, and Suns Network Computing Solutions and iForce solution approach, said officials from Accenture; PTC, of Needham, Mass.; and Sun, of Palo Alto, Calif.

The trio will initially target the electronics, high-tech, automotive, aerospace, defense and industrial equipment verticals.
