Unisys Corp. this month joined a growing number of server vendors to jump aboard Intel Corp.s Xeon MP bandwagon. The Blue Bell, Pa., company unveiled the Enterprise Server ES7000/200, which features the new chip from Intel and the Unisys Server Sentinel. The Server Sentinel includes self-monitoring, self-maintenance and self-healing features, including automated recovery and a consolidated view of all server components.

The Xeon MP chip allows for a boost in power. Xeon MP supports up to four-way systems and is available at 1.4GHz, 1.5GHz and 1.6GHz. It also enables the ES7000/ 200 to combine 32-bit and 64-bit computing in one environment. The server is due next month, starting at $100,000.
