CSG Systems International Inc. has acquired Lucent Technologies billing and customer care division also known as Kenan Systems Corp., the company announced Friday.

The deal, valued at $260 million, adds wireline and wireless telecommunications billing and customer care software and related services to CSGs portfolio of similar software for other segments of the communications industry, including cable television, direct broadcast satellite and advanced Internet Protocol (IP) services.

In addition, the acquisition brings Denver-based CSG more than 230 service provider customers in nearly 40 countries representing all segments of the market, officials said.

“We have built a global customer care and billing powerhouse with a diverse array of proven solutions to meet the marketplaces needs today and in the future,” said Neal Hansen, CSGs CEO and chairman, in a statement.

Hansen said the acquisition would allow CSG to present its service provider clients to better serve their customers and introduce new revenue-generating products and services faster.

CSG will sell the Kenan/BP platform and other Kenan products as both separate products and part of the rest of its portfolio.
