Google’s ‘Nano Banana 2 Flash’ Could Bring Pro-Level AI Images to Everyone

Google appears to be gearing up to release a new, more efficient version of its image generation tool, tentatively named Nano Banana 2 Flash.

According to a report from TestingCatalog, Nano Banana 2 Flash will be the next lightweight model within the Gemini ecosystem. It is expected to democratize access to advanced AI visuals, potentially offering capabilities previously restricted to paid subscribers — and it could be arriving very soon.

What makes this update especially interesting is TestingCatalog’s discovery of new internal references. The publication explains that Google’s earlier Pro version of Nano Banana 2 had the codename “Ketchup,” and now, a new entry labeled “Mayo” has appeared in the app’s code. That new label points to the Flash edition.

What the Flash version is expected to offer

The key purpose of the rumored Nano Banana 2 Flash model is speed and affordability.

Following Google’s established pattern, the “Flash” variant prioritizes low-latency generation, meaning super-quick image outputs over the pixel-perfect precision of its higher-end sibling, Nano Banana 2 Pro.
