In whats being called the “silver tech age,” high tech companies are creating systems specifically for the aging population and the growing number of their caretakers.

For example, computer chips being developed by Intel can be placed on furniture in a persons home to help caregivers know whether an elderly person can access rooms such as the kitchen and bathroom, or whether the individual is confined to the bedroom. Other technologies detect falls and wandering.
