SAP today at Cebit announced that it has significantly expanded its alliance with Intl to create a set of modular servers for system builders that will come with Novell’s Suse Linux and SAP’s MaxDB pre-installed alongside SAP’s Business All-in-One software for the small to medium business market. According to SAP, this program will on average drop the implementation costs of rolling out Business All-in-One by 45 percent and reduce the operating costs of running the application by 25 percent. This offering will first be made available to solution providers in Europe, but Pat Gelsinger, senior vice president and general manager for Intel’s Digital Enterprise Group said this offering will made available to resellers worldwide by the second half of the year. At the show, NEC was showing a prototype of the offering based on Intel Xeon processors that it expects to make available in the second quarter. Separately, SAP also announced a partnership with IDS Scheer under which SAP will make IDS Scheer’s modeling tools for creating applications available through SAP
