Business is looking very cool for Anthropic as it has secured a multi-year agentic AI deal worth $200 million with Snowflake.

Their partnership aims to bring agentic AI capabilities to more than 12,600 Snowflake customers, marking a significant alliance between a data cloud provider and an AI safety research organization.

The companies say the agreement will deepen technological integration, launch a joint global go-to-market strategy, and place Anthropic’s Claude models at the center of Snowflake’s emerging enterprise intelligence ecosystem.

Enterprise-grade AI agents

At the heart of the partnership is a shared objective: enabling large organizations to deploy AI agents capable of navigating complex, multi-step reasoning across sensitive financial, operational, and customer datasets. Snowflake’s governed AI Data Cloud will now serve as a primary delivery environment for Anthropic’s newest Claude models, including Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Opus 4.5.

Executives from both companies emphasized that the partnership is designed to help enterprises transition from experimental AI pilots to full-scale operational use.

Sridhar Ramaswamy, CEO of Snowflake, noted that Anthropic is among a small group of partners with which Snowflake maintains “nine-figure alignment” and extensive co-development efforts.

Anthropic CEO and co-founder Dario Amodei described the move as a meaningful step toward making frontier AI “genuinely useful for businesses.”

Why agentic AI matters

By embedding Claude models within Snowflake’s controlled data perimeter, enterprises can allow AI agents to operate on highly sensitive datasets without exporting information to external systems. This architecture addresses a key barrier to AI adoption across industries such as banking, healthcare, manufacturing, and government, where concerns over data leakage remain central.

The companies argue that this approach enables more trustworthy automation compared to standalone AI platforms. As an example, Snowflake describes a wealth management firm using Snowflake Intelligence, powered by Claude, to blend client holdings, market signals, and compliance rules into personalized investment recommendations while maintaining strict regulatory controls.

Snowflake Cortex AI

Snowflake customers already process trillions of Claude tokens each month through Snowflake Cortex AI. The expanded partnership introduces several new capabilities designed to accelerate enterprise AI deployment.

Snowflake Intelligence, now powered by Claude Sonnet 4.5, will give business users the ability to query all their structured and unstructured data through natural language. This includes text, images, audio, and traditional database formats. The addition of multimodal support allows organizations to incorporate a wider range of internal documents, product imagery, and operational records into their AI workflows.

Meanwhile, Snowflake Cortex Agents will allow companies to construct customized, production-ready AI agents tailored to their needs. These agents can search, retrieve, and reason over enterprise data while respecting governance rules enforced through Snowflake Horizon Catalog.

The partnership also extends to internal use cases at Snowflake itself, where Claude-powered tools aid software development and support sales operations. Snowflake’s GTM AI Assistant uses Claude models to help sales teams rapidly access internal insights, contributing to shorter deal cycles.

Broader market implications

With AI competition intensifying, the agreement positions both Snowflake and Anthropic as central players in the rapidly forming enterprise AI stack. Snowflake gains access to frontier AI capabilities that deepen the value of its data cloud, while Anthropic secures a major distribution channel into some of the world’s largest companies.

OpenAI has introduced a new training technique that encourages advanced language models to explicitly admit when they break rules, cut corners, or “reward hack” during tasks.
