Dell Latitude 13

The Dell Latitude 13 takes styling cues from the Dell Vostro V13, but this ultra-thin unit, at 3.36 pounds, pairs a 13.3-inch screen with ultra-low voltage Intel processors, remote management features, an optional Blu-ray drive, and a long list of connectivity and security options. Dell hasn’t revealed pricing, beyond saying it will be below $1,000.

Dell says that with the Latitude 13 supports all the technology an IT department needs. This laptop offers security features such as a solid-state drive, full-disk encryption, a Trusted Platform Module and Computrace software.


Dell M6500 Mobile Workstation

The powerful Dell M6500 mobile workstation features an Intel Core i7 processor paired with 1,066MHz, 1,333MHz and 1600MHz of memory. With three internal storage drives, it offers the option of two more, along with an LED 17-inch screen, a USB 3.0 port and Gobi 2.0 support for worldwide connectivity.

Gateway SX

The smallest of Gateway’s new desktops, the SX Series packs a 2.93GHz Intel Core i3 530 processor, integrated Intel graphics, a 1TB SATA hard drive with energy-saving features, an HDMI port, Windows 7 and a 16X DVD read/write SuperMulti Drive behind a $560 price tag.

The DX Series, priced at $850, offers a 3.2GHz Intel Core i5 650 processor with Turbo Boost technology up to 3.46GHz, Nvidia GeForce graphics, 8GB of DDR3 memory, a 1TB SATA drive and a Blue-ray disc drive.

The FX Series, whose redesign Gateway likens to a race car, features an Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost technology up to 3.46GHz, ATI Radeon HD5850 graphics, 16GB of DDR3 memory, a 1.5TB SATA drive, and the 16X DVD read/write drive, plus a Blu-ray drive, for $1,700. Happy gaming.

The FX Series is additionally designed for ease of use. Two external hard drive bays are concealed behind a cover on its front; an angled media card reader makes it easy to insert and remove a card; and a tray up top offers a place for a camera or other device to rest while data is being downloaded.


Sony Vaio E Series

The Sony Vaio E Series, while available in matte classics such as Maple Brown, also comes in a tropical assortment of hues, including Caribbean Green, Hibiscus Pink and Iridescent Blue. There are eight color options in all, with patterns on the lid and palm rest, to brighten up any workspace.

While colorful, the E Series is no frivolous offering. Packed inside are an Intel Core i5 processor, an up to 500GB hard drive and an optional Blue-ray disc ROM drive, plus DVD and CD read/write capabilities. The HD screen is 15.5 inches diagonally, and a dedicated Web button will launch the browser without booting the OS. Pricing starts at $700.
