      Announced at CES, Toshiba’s Port- R400 runs the Windows Vista Ultimate operating system and takes advantage of many functions found in Vista. The laptop has a 12.1-inch widescreen LED backlit display.

      The Port- R400 supports Microsoft’s Active Notifications, which allows a user to receive real-time e-mail and calendar notifications. These alerts can be seen on a digital display on the front edge of the laptop.

      The display on which a user can see real-time e-mail and calendar notifications is what Toshiba calls a Personal Information Assistant. Users can receive notification on the Personal Information Assistant via either a Wi-Fi or EvDO connection.
