IBM and Crystal Decisions announced Monday an extension of their partnership into the small-to-medium business space.

The deal calls for the two companies to develop new joint offerings, expand existing sales channels and explore new services opportunities together.

Key to the deal is Crystal porting its Crystal Enterprise Crystal reporting software to IBMs AIX 5L Unix platform. Crystal software has also been optimized for other IBM products, including DB2 Universal Database, Tivoli and the WebSphere product line, said officials from IBM, in Armonk, N.Y., and Crystal Decisions, in Palo Alto, Calif.

The companies will also work together in channel development and lead generation.
