MPC to Beef Up In-House Staff

Bucking the industry trend of sending technical support offshore, MPC Computers is bringing its entire support staff into its Nampa, Idaho, headquarters.

The computer maker, which targets midsize businesses, government agencies and educational institutions, had supplemented its in-house staff with a third-party call center in Minnesota.

But company officials said support was so important to MPCs customers that it wanted its support staff to work in close proximity to its engineers. To fill the need, MPC will hire about 30 more technical support workers at its headquarters.

MPC officials said each customer is assigned a dedicated MPC support staff member. Each time a problem arises, the customer talks to the same person, rather than having to start over with a new, anonymous technical support person.
