Jim Rapoza has it all wrong in his Oct. 24 Tech Directions column, “PCs Get Touchy-Feely,” when he says that tablet PCs (especially those in slate form factor) are only marketable in certain vertical areas.

As a full-time writer and editor, I use my slate all the time.
