Voice recognition companies Nuance Communications Inc. and IBM Voice Systems are partnering to spread their technologies to a broader audience. Nuance, of Menlo Park, Calif., and networking giant Cisco Systems Inc., of San Jose, Calif., last week announced that Nuance will provide voice recognition and authentication software for Ciscos Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data products, scheduled to launch in the next quarter.
Separately, IBM, of Armonk, N.Y., earlier this month said it is integrating its WebSphere Voice Server, which comes with the companys ViaVoice speech recognition product, with Dialogic Corp.s voice portal reference system. The goal is to simplify the creation of applications in VoiceXML (Extensible Markup Language) and Java for Dialogics customers.
Companies with interactive voice response systems based on Dialogics platforms can now speech-enable and integrate their Web and telephony environments using WebSphere Voice Server, allowing them to improve their customer service, according to officials at IBM and Dialogic, of Parsippany, N.J.
IBM WebSphere Voice Server for the Dialogic platform is due in June, with pricing starting at $15,000 per processor.
