Question from Mandrake079
“One day i had just got home from work and went to use my pc. it had been running for about 2 hours and the only thing that had been done on it was e-mail checking. i opened a program and the hard disk shuts off and the computer restarts. it has happened to me before, and nothing on the WD help site talked about this.
WD 100gb 8mb cache
thermatake heat sink low setting.”

“When you say the system restarts do you mean The mem test (POST) BIOS screen and reboot with Win logo? Or do you mean it re-draws the desktop?
If its just re-drawing the desktop, everything is working as it should.
The computer just went into stand-by mode, turning off the hard drive, putting the CPU and other things into a low power mode. Nothing to worry about. You can turn this off if you dont like it.
However if it did the BIOS and POST there is something wrong.
If there is something wrong or if you dont like the way it is working, post details and I will get back to you. “

“you woulnt happend to have windows xp would you… there was this thing that if you put it on standby it would ruin the harddrive like it did to me! so after 5 months later microsoft fixed it, be warned that that clicking sound did it to me also and if you dont back up everything some day your harddrive will die just like mine did…”
