Xerox Takes Wraps Off Latest Multifunction Printers

Xerox Corp. Tuesday at the TechXNY show will expand its arsenal of multifunction printers and roll out new software to help businesses manage document output.

Aimed for enterprise users looking to consolidate output devices, the new WorkCentre Pro C2128, C2636 and C3545 allow users to print, copy, scan and fax.

The C2128 prints 21 ppm (pages per minute) in color and 28 ppm in monochrome; the C2636 prints 26 ppm in color and 36 in monochrome; and the C3545 picks up the speed considerably at 35 ppm in color and 45 ppm in monochrome. For all three models, the first page prints out in about 6 seconds for monochrome and 8.5 seconds for color, according to Xerox officials.

Cost per page is about 9 cents for color and 1 cent for monochrome, said officials.

The printers come with a 520-sheet paper tray, a 100-sheet bypass tray and a 50-sheet duplex feeder. Additional trays for functions like saddle-stitch booklet creation or hole-punch finishing are available for additional cost.

Pricing for the new MFPs starts at $12,995.

Xerox will also announce two new monochrome MFPs aimed for small to midsized businesses: the WorkCentre Pro 123 and 128, which print at 23 ppm and 28 ppm, respectively.

Pricing for these units starts at $10,289.

To help ease workflow processes, the printers allow users to scan a document to their e-mail inbox, desktop, network, file server, document management system or fax number. The machines also allow users to perform multiple tasks, like printing and scanning, simultaneously.

For security-sensitive documents, users can make sure the document only prints for their eyes by restricting document access. The new machines also erase document images from the hard drive after printing.

As part of its push to expand the services and solutions side of its business, Xerox will also announce new software for monitoring output and automating supplies ordering.
