AirMagnet has done some pretty good work over the last couple years integrating Cognio’s spectrum analysis capabilities into the AirMagnet Enterprise and Laptop product lines. This integration has given AirMagnet insight into the RF plane to help root out interference issues affecting wireless network performance, and has been a real differentiator for them in the market.
So when I read about Cisco’s intention to purchase Cognio, I went straight to AirMagnet for its perspective. Without further ado:
“Cisco’s acquisition of Cognio validates and reaffirms the importance of the need for spectrum analysis within enterprise wireless LAN environments. AirMagnet continues to be one of the few suppliers of a mobile tool for spectrum analysis and the only vendor to be currently shipping spectrum analysis for 24×7 analysis via wireless sensors.”
“The latest Cisco/Cognio news has no impact on AirMagnet’s ability to supply its customers with AirMagnet Spectrum Analyzer and AirMagnet Enterprise spectrum analysis. AirMagnet will continue to provide its solutions to end users through our strategic distribution and value-added reseller channels.”
“In addition, AirMagnet anticipates no change in terms of the availability or support of these AirMagnet products by Cisco. AirMagnet, Cognio and Cisco all share close strategic working relationships and are committed to providing their customers best-in-class solutions. Together the companies are aimed at meeting the needs of enterprise customers who increasingly are looking to strategically leverage wireless LAN technology in their networks.”
