Google watchers may want to tune into an address on March 7 by Microsoft’s Chief Technical Officer Ray Ozzie at the O’Reilly Emerging Technology Conference in San Diego.

At the conference, Ozzie plans to unveil some of his recent ideas about bridging computer desktops and RSS feeds. RSS is a popular method of describing how news or other Web content is available for “feeding” via distribution or syndication from an online publisher to Web users.

Microsoft writes here that Ozzie’s address will include a demo of a few simple ideas he’s had recently that might be useful in bridging RSS and the computer desktop. Google’s also been toying with RSS lately. Is this a sign of another looming tech titan showdown?
