Security is always an issue with Microsoft Corp. technology. GFI Ltd. said it has one solution.

The Cary, N.C., company has rolled out a hosted intrusion detection tool designed to protect Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers and workstations against internal and external threats.

LANguard Security Event Log Monitor keeps tabs on the security event logs of all such servers and workstations and consolidates them into a central log for fast analysis. The system also alerts administrators to critical intrusions in real time and provides detailed reports and tips for interpreting the events.

The hosted system does not interfere with network traffic, requires no client software, and can scale to networks of thousands of servers and workstations, company officials said.

The system is available now, with pricing starting at $495 to monitor three servers.
