NetScreen Technologies Inc. this week announced an upgrade to its Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN line. The companys Secure Access appliances allow users to access server-based information using any device equipped with a Web browser. The new version offers enhanced abilities for controlling access to various server-based files and supports multiple host names.

Juniper Networks Inc. this week announced it would acquire NetScreen for $4 billion in stock.
