U.S. Awards Contract for Face-Recognition Technology

Identity technology developer Viisage Technology Inc. this week said it has won a contract with the U.S. State Department to provide face-recognition technology to be used in a border security program. Starting in February, the Consular Affairs Office will begin using the Viisage technology to check applicant photos for duplicates and possible fraud in applications. The Viisage technology, based on technology the company acquired when it purchased ZN Vision Technologies AG, was evaluated against two competing solutions.
