Qualcomm embraced open-source last week, saying it plans to run its wireless development extranet on Linux servers.

More than 200 clustered IBM eServer x335 systems running Red Hat Linux will host Qualcomms BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) extranets. Developers can download from the cluster tools necessary to create BREW-based wireless applications for mobile phones.
