Network and direct attached storage and wireless networking company Buffalo Technology announced the release of TeraStation WSS utilizing Windows Storage Server, aimed at small to medium-size businesses (SMBs). Incorporating an x86 hardware platform, the TeraStation WSS features four quick-swap SATA hard drives, an enhanced power supply and redundant RAID technology. The TeraStation WSS also offers improved file security by utilizing Window’s NTFS file system, coupled with the native Active Directory support. It also features Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 Express Edition.

Last week the company also released the USB 3.0 ExpressCard . The USB 3.0 ExpressCard accompanies Buffalo’s DriveStation HD-HXU3, a USB 3.0 external storage solution. The USB 3.0 ExpressCard adapter offers consumers transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbps on two available ports and is backward compatible with all USB 2.0 enabled devices. The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 DriveStation is available in 1.0TB, 1.5TB and 2.0TB capacities. The USB 3.0 ExpressCard is backed by a limited one-year warranty that includes toll-free 24/7 technical support and is available at estimated street prices of $59.99, while the DriveStation USB 3.0 is backed by the same warranty and support and is currently available at estimated street prices of $199.99 for 1TB, $249.99 for 1.5TB and $399.99 for 2.0TB.

In addition, the company announced a refreshing of LinkStation Duo NAS product. Available in 1TB, 2TB and 3TB capacities, the LinkStation Duo features enhanced performance speeds of up to 40MB/s, twice the speed of its Pro Duo predecessor, and it can be configured in RAID 0 for capacity or RAID 1 for redundant storage. The solution is DLNA certified, allowing it to stream content to any DLNA compatible media device, including Sony’s PlayStation 3 game console and Buffalo’s LinkTheater products. Plus, LinkStation Duo acts as an iTunes server, integrating with and allowing the iTunes software access to music files stored on the server. The LinkStation Duo also supports Apple Time Machine for backup and Apple Bonjour. Prices are $259.99 for the 1TB, $339.99 for the 2TB and $499.99 for the 4TB.
