Data archiving solutions specialist El Fresko Technologies and optical disc storage and management solutions provider Digistore Solutions International announced a technology partnership to provide a compliant archiving and e-Discovery solution for small to medium-size businesses. The technology alliance certifies the integration of MagnaStor, El Fresko’s compliant archiving file system, with Digistore Solutions’ Centurion DiscHub, a desktop optical appliance. The solution is designed to work out of the box, helping enable midmarket companies to plug in compliance and scale the solution to meet future needs.

The El Fresko-Digistore Solutions International solution is available immediately. Storage capacity starts at 1TB and additional information and pricing is available from El Fresko and Digistore Solutions distributors, which can be located by contacting either company directly. El Fresko is also expanding its partnership program and said it intends to join forces with a select number of companies in all global regions. Organizations interested in becoming MagnaStor resellers and/or OEM partners can contact El Fresko directly, the company noted.

“Tackling compliance requires a proactive approach to eliminate risk. The partnership between El Fresko and Digistore Solutions International gives companies a secure migration path to next-generation magnetic media while maintaining the benefits of an optical backup,” said Mark Fowlie, CEO of El Fresko. “Companies must ensure their strategy is sound and recognize that authenticity of data is as important as its accessibility. Our joint solution provides exactly that – the ability to continuously and conclusively verify the chain of custody for any file, ultra-fast online access and guaranteed long-term preservation.”

MagnaStor is deployed as the primary archive file system, providing WORM (write-once, read-many) capability on magnetic disk. As a second layer of protection, MagnaStor replicates data to the Centurion DiscHub automatically. A joint statement from the companies said this capability helps leverage the long-term data-preservation capabilities of established optical media and combines the benefits of next-generation magnetic media, such as fast online access to data.

The companies further stated that replication of data to Centurion DiscHub helps ensure companies have a fully synchronized copy of their file system contents and audit history. MagnaStor also “self repairs” any files at risk of being lost to disk failure by automatically rebuilding them from the Centurion DiscHub optical library.

“El Fresko’s MagnaStor is sophisticated compliant archiving technology and it complements our Centurion DiscHub extremely well,” said Geoff MacLeod-Smith, CEO for Digistore Solutions. “The pre-integrated solution provides companies the ability to access their information at disk drive speed, which is a level of performance to which businesses have become accustomed, while ensuring it is fully backed up on optical media.”
