Chip vendor Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) this week said it will acquire storage maker 3ware Inc. for $150 million in cash and options to buy stock.
3ware crafts Serial ATA RAID storage solutions to pipe data backup, near-line storage and network-attached storage (NAS) applications.
This weeks acquisition follows San Diego, Calif.-based AMCC October purchase of storage startup JNI that offered host bus adapters (HBAs) for storage area networks.
