Object storage software provider Cloudian had some good news May 15 for a growing number of storage admins out there who are adding cloud instances to their on-premises systems.

The San Mateo, Calif.-based company launched its HyperStore Test Drive on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that provides users with fast access to a dedicated, fully operational HyperStore cluster operating in Google Cloud Platform—at no charge.

Cloudian’s platform also connects to Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services Simple Storage Service (S3).

In the Test Drive, users can validate compatibility of their applications with Cloudian’s S3 application programming interface (API) and test Cloudian’s complete object storage management environment. No on-premises hardware is required, meaning that validation may be accelerated by days or weeks, the company said.

The HyperStore Test Drive runs live in Google Cloud Platform and gives users access to a Cloudian HyperStore object storage solution that is functionally identical to what customers typically deploy in their own data centers. Users receive exclusive access to a cloud-based, six-node Cloudian HyperStore cluster in which they can validate application connectivity, and store and retrieve data via Cloudian’s highly-compatible S3 API.

“The HyperStore Test Drive on Google Cloud Platform lets people experience Cloudian’s simple management environment and industry-leading S3 API interoperability, so they can validate connectivity with their own S3-compatible applications and explore the configuration options,” CMO Jon Toor said in a media advisory.

“In just a few minutes, users can launch within GCP a clustered computing environment, with six nodes and networking, all automatically configured, providing an agile, highly capable validation environment.”

Cloudian claims HyperStore is the industry’s “most S3-compatible” on-premises storage platform for unstructured data consolidation, supporting use cases that include data protection, media archives, file sharing, medical imaging, artificial intelligence (AI) and others.
