Dell announced last week the Dell/EMC NS500, its new network-attached storage gateway. Built in partnership with EMC, the NAS gateway lets businesses move file and block data into a single storage pool. The gateway features automated failover software, cache vaulting and data scrubbing.

Due later this year, the Dell/EMC NS500 gateway is designed to let midtier and enterprise customers more easily consolidate data within their NAS and SAN (storage area network) environments, providing simplified management of file-serving needs and lowered storage costs, said Dell officials.
