Dell, HP Back New Blu-ray DVD Standard

Hewlett-Packard Co. and Dell Inc. recently said the companies will support the Blu-ray standard for DVD technology. The format, backed by a consortium of ten companies, including Philips Electronics and Sony, allows for recording of up to four hours of high-definition television on a single disc.

Blu-ray is competing with another new blue laser-based DVD technology from Toshiba and NEC.
