Rackable Systems announced March 12 that it has integrated its servers with the newest Intel Xeon processor series to help enterprises reduce operations and resource expenses for data centers.

The Quad-Core Intel 5300 series includes the Xeon L5320 and L5310 processors, low-wattage processors that draw 50 watts of power. When combined with Rackables servers, they give users better performance per watt per square foot.

“The new low-voltage Intel Xeon processor series is the next step in low-wattage quad-core technology and allows Rackable Systems to continue to provide efficient, high-powered solutions for our customers,” said Colette LaForce, vice president of marketing for Rackable, in Milpitas, Calif.

The Xeon L5320 and L5310 offer clock speeds of 1.86GHz and 1.6GHz, respectively, and are currently being offered in systems from Acer, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Samsung and now Rackable Systems.

Using Intels server technology, Rackable Systems provides offerings to businesses with data center applications that focus on Web hosting, performance computing, financial services, oil and gas, and entertainment while using enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology, which helps reduce average system power consumption.

Intels 5300 series features Intels Virtualization technology, new processor hardware that enable businesses to migrate environments such as 64-bit operating systems and applications to virtual environments.

“As a committed provider of systems based on Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors, Rackable Systems continues to address customers growing demands for high-performance, energy-efficient servers and storage systems in their data centers,” Kirk Skaugen, vice president of Intels Digital Enterprise Group, said in a company release.

Rackable Systems servers based on Intels Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors will be available in 30 days; prices are dependent on the customers configurations.
