      Here are a some of the annoucements:

      New Sony Tape Drives

      Sony will show new branded external tape drives supporting its Super AIT format. Each cartridge has a native capacity of 500GB; with compression (and depending on the data being stored) the media can hold up to 1.3 terabytes. The company said the drives provide a sustained transfer rates of 30MB and 78MB per second for native and compressed data, respectively.

      ADIC Announces New Scalar Library

      Advanced Digital Information Corp. this week introduced its Scalar i2000 library, built around the companys intelligent iPlatform architecture. The company said the new library foundation eliminates external control servers and enhances library functions to increase overall data protection. The Scalar i2000s capacity-on-demand scalability is from 100 to over 2200 cartridges.

      Yosemite inIntros New Backup Software For Small Biz

      Yosemite Technologies this week released TapeWare 7, multi-platform backup software aimed at the small-to-medium enterprise. This version marks the companys entry into the UNIX data protection market with support for Sun Solaris and FreeBSD UNIX; in addition to support for the upcoming release of Microsoft Windows Server 2003.

      Arsenal Digital Services Takes to Axion Architecture

      Storage management services provider Arsenal Digital Solutions this week said it will incorporate Avamar TechnologiesAxion technology into Arsenals services architecture. “As mission critical data moves outside the glass house to both the regional and global mobile workforce, enterprises are struggling to protect that data and make it restorable for business continuity purposes,” said Frank Brick, CEO of Arsenal Digital Solutions..”
