SoftNAS, which specializes in software-defined, cloud-based, network-attached storage, revealed Sept. 15 that U.S. Signal has incorporated its Cloud for Service Providers platform into its cloud storage infrastructure.

Grand Rapids, Michigan-based U.S. Signal provides unmetered data transfer in and out of the storage array and seamless integration into its cloud hosting products and private WAN services.

“By utilizing cloud storage, customers can easily share files with colleagues, archive documents and securely store company data,” U.S. Signal R&D engineer Berant Lemmenes said. “We were looking for a partner to provide [AWS] S3-compatible cloud storage via a virtual appliance supporting network file system (NFS), and we didn’t have the time to add features to an in-house solution.”

With more than 14,000 miles of lit fiber and metro rings in 23 strategic Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, U.S. Signal’s infrastructure is one of the largest fully deployed networks in the Midwest. The network’s optical backbone features Cisco Systems’ latest carrier-class architecture.

U.S. Signal’s product portfolio includes a full suite of colocation, disaster recovery, security, cloud hosting and network services. The company also offers both managed and professional services to complement its product offerings, delivered over a protected network, the company said.

Houston-based SoftNAS provides software-defined NAS solutions and protects mission-critical data using any combination of public, private and hybrid clouds. It also offers users enterprise-class data protection, security and performance required to safely, predictably and reliably operate IT systems and applications.

SoftNAS believes in hassle-free data management and works with any hardware and any data type across any geography and with any IT environment. This includes public, private and hybrid cloud computing platforms AWS, Microsoft Azure, CenturyLink Cloud and VMware vSphere.
